Does Your Pet Measure Up?

Getting the crate size right for a safe, comfortable journey.

Does Your Pet Measure Up?

When relocating your pets, their comfort and safety are your number one priority. There are guidelines established by IATA (International Animal Transport Association), listed in the LAR (Live Animal Regulations), as to the appropriate carrier/crate size for all species. Measuring your pets accurately will ensure the proper crate size is used for maximum safety.

For dogs and cats, for length we measure from the tip of the nose to the base of the tail and the front leg. For height we measure from the flat of the head to the floor; for erect-eared dogs, from the tip of the ear to the floor.

For proper crate length, we calculate the length plus ½ of the leg length. For proper crate height, there should be space above the head when the pet is standing.
